Técnico Innovation Summit 2026
Annual meeting of the innovation ecosystem of Instituto Superior TécnicoTécnico Innovation Center
About the event
Portugal’s next wave of innovation starts at Técnico.
Técnico Innovation Summit 2026 (TIS 2026) is the major annual gathering of Instituto Superior Técnico’s innovation ecosystem, taking place on February 3, 2026, at the Técnico Innovation Center (TIC). Building on the momentum of its 2024 debut, TIS 2026 brings together R&D Units, PRR and European programme projects, Técnico Spin-offs, and the Técnico Partner Network for a one-day showcase of applied science, knowledge transfer, and tech entrepreneurship.
Details
The Técnico Innovation Summit 2026 (TIS 2026) provides a comprehensive view of how Instituto Superior Técnico transforms scientific research into economic, technological, and societal impact. The event showcases projects at various stages of maturity, from early-stage research and functional prototypes to validated solutions, technology transfer processes, and the creation of new companies.
TIS 2026 serves as a convergence space for science, industry, and society, fostering direct connections between Técnico’s Research Units and public and private organizations interested in research and development collaboration, real-world experimentation, technology investment, and knowledge valorisation.
Throughout the event, flagship projects developed within Técnico’s Research Units will be presented, including initiatives funded under the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR) and other national and European research and innovation programs. Presentations will take place through exhibition spaces, demonstrations, and scheduled interactions with research teams. (13:00 - 14:00) Session
Innovation Policy, Funding and Competitiveness: From Research to Impact
Europe’s competitiveness will not depend solely on generating knowledge, but primarily on the capacity to convert it into industry, skilled jobs, and global leadership.
Portugal possesses world-class research, innovative enterprises, and historic levels of public investment via frameworks like the RRP (Recovery and Resilience Plan) and COMPETE 2030. The core challenge has shifted: we must now turn ideas into scale, pilots into markets, and projects into lasting economic and social impact.
The issue is no longer ‘how to finance innovation,’ but ‘how to guarantee that innovation yields results.
This session gathers leaders in public policy, funding, industry, and academia to debate how to better align strategy, investment, and execution—accelerating the pathway from research to competitiveness and growth.
